Understanding the daily rate and market hours

When the rate is guaranteed, when it is indicative, and what happens once you confirm a quote.

Each Volta quote shows one all-in rate, our margin included, the amount you pay and the exact amount your beneficiary receives. There is no separate exchange fee.

Guaranteed during market hours

Rates are published every business day. During market hours — business days, 9:00 to 18:00 London time, as defined in our terms — the rate shown is guaranteed. In the evening, overnight, at weekends and on UK public holidays, it is indicative: it is confirmed when the market reopens, before you transfer, and you are told the final amount.

Held for 24 hours once confirmed

When you confirm a quote, you give a firm exchange order and the rate is held for 24 hours. Use this time to add beneficiaries and documents. After that, the quote can be cancelled free of charge as long as no funds have been received.

Send your funds on time

The currency risk is yours, including if your funds arrive late. If funds are not received in time, the quote may be cancelled and any exchange loss is payable.

Negotiated rates

Volta may agree a negotiated rate with a client, valid for that client only until the date shown on the platform.
