Terms of use

Last updated: 8 November 2026

These terms govern your use of the website pay.voltasquare.com and of the platform app.voltasquare.com (together, the “Services”), operated under the trading name Volta by Volta Square LLC (United States) and Volta Square Inc. (Canada) (“Volta”, “we”). By using the website or opening an account, you accept these terms on behalf of the business you represent and confirm that you are authorised to do so.

1. Contractual documents

Operations are governed by the following documents, in this order of priority for a given operation: the confirmed quote; the price list; the General Terms of Service; the Master Services Agreement signed on the platform. These website terms apply to the use of the website and, for anything not covered by the signed documents, to the platform. Your own purchasing conditions do not apply unless Volta has agreed to them in writing.

2. What Volta does

Volta provides business-to-business currency exchange and international payment execution, relying on banks and payment partners of its choice. Volta is not a bank: it does not take deposits from the public, does not grant credit and does not provide investment, legal, tax or accounting advice. Market information and indicative rates shown on the Services are for information only.

3. Who can use Volta

  • Registered businesses acting for their professional activity only; no services to individuals for personal purposes.
  • You must provide complete and accurate information about the business, its directors, its beneficial owners and the origin of its funds, and tell us without delay about any change.
  • No operation is carried out until our checks are complete. We may refuse an account or an operation without giving reasons, and ask for updated information at any time.

4. Access and security

You keep your login details confidential, give access only to authorised users, and assign each user an appropriate role. Every action carried out with your credentials is deemed to be yours. Tell us immediately about any loss, theft or suspected unauthorised access. Volta will never ask for your password.

5. Quotes and rates

  • Each quote shows one all-in rate, Volta’s margin included, the amount to pay and the exact amount received by the beneficiary.
  • During market hours (business days, 9:00 to 18:00 London time) the rate shown is guaranteed. Outside them it is indicative and is confirmed before you transfer your funds.
  • Confirming a quote is a firm order. The rate is held for 24 hours while you add beneficiaries and documents; afterwards, the quote may be cancelled free of charge as long as no funds have been received.
  • You bear the currency risk of your operations, including when your funds arrive late. Volta may correct a manifestly wrong rate; you may then cancel free of charge.

6. Documents and permitted payments

Each payment must match a genuine, lawful transaction backed by an invoice or equivalent document. Volta may ask for further documents (contract, purchase order, transport document, customs declaration) before execution. Payments in cash or crypto-assets, payments for an undeclared third party and payments linked to our prohibited industries and countries are not accepted.

7. Funding

You transfer the amount shown to the Volta account indicated on the platform, from a bank account in your company’s own name, with the quote reference, and upload proof of each transfer. A proof of transfer is not receipt: an operation is executed only once funds are actually received. Funds from a third party are not accepted and are returned to the sender.

8. Execution times

Once funds are received, payments are usually executed within 48 hours and, as a rule, within 72 business hours, subject to compliance checks, public holidays and intermediary banks. These times are indicative. The proof of payment (SWIFT or equivalent) is available on the platform. Intermediary or beneficiary banks may deduct fees, unless the OUR option is requested before execution.

9. Beneficiary details

You are solely responsible for the beneficiary’s name, account number or IBAN, BIC, address and payment reason. A payment sent to the details you provided or confirmed is considered correctly executed. Always confirm new or changed bank details by phone with a contact you already know: fraud using fake change-of-details emails is common.

10. Cancellation and returns

  • Before funds are received: cancellation is free.
  • After receipt, before conversion: funds are credited to your balance free of charge, or returned.
  • After conversion, before execution: funds are reconverted at the day’s rate; any exchange difference is yours.
  • After execution: the payment is irrevocable. A recall can be attempted, without guarantee, at a cost agreed beforehand.
  • Any return of funds, whatever the cause, costs 0.7% of the amount returned, all bank fees included, and is made only to an account in your company’s name, usually within 10 business days after checks.

11. Fees

Volta’s remuneration is included in the rate of each quote. Other fees are limited to the cases listed in the price list published on our Pricing page and annexed to the General Terms of Service. Taxes that may apply to an operation are borne by the client.

12. Compliance, suspension and blocking

Volta screens clients, beneficiaries and payments against sanctions lists, may delay, refuse or block an operation where the law, a sanctions concern or a fraud risk requires it, and reports to the competent authorities where the law requires it, without always being able to inform you. Funds may be held for as long as the law requires, without interest or compensation.

13. Liability

Volta is liable for its proven failures within the conditions and limits set out in the Master Services Agreement. Volta is never liable for indirect or intangible losses (loss of profit, revenue, customers or opportunity, reputational harm, late penalties owed to a third party); for delays, rejections or losses resulting from inaccurate details, incomplete documents, a procedure not followed by the client, a fraud suffered by the client, a decision of an authority, a compliance check, or the acts of an intermediary bank, correspondent or payment system; or for exchange rate movements. Any claim must be brought within one year of the event giving rise to it, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.

14. Website content

Content on the website is provided for general information and may change. It is not an offer, a recommendation or advice. Trademarks, texts and visuals belong to Volta or their owners and may not be reused without permission.

15. Electronic signature and evidence

Documents signed electronically on the platform, records of quotes and operations, and our system logs are valid evidence between you and Volta.

16. Termination

You may close your account at any time once pending operations are completed. Volta may suspend or close an account with notice, or immediately where required by law or in case of a serious breach.

17. Governing law

These website terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, and applicable U.S. federal law, unless mandatory provisions provide otherwise. The law and courts applicable to operations are those set out in the signed agreement.

We may update these terms; the date above shows the current version. Questions: through our contact form or at info@voltasquare.com.
