The SWIFT proof of payment: what it is for

Why your supplier asks for it, what it shows, and where to find it in your account.

An international bank transfer travels through the SWIFT network. The proof of payment is the bank’s record that the transfer has been sent, with its amount, currency, date, beneficiary and reference.

Why it matters

  • Your supplier can trace the transfer with their bank and release your goods sooner.
  • Your accounts and auditors have a reliable document for each payment.
  • If a payment is delayed, the proof makes it easier for the banks involved to locate it.

Where to find it

For each payment sent, the proof (SWIFT or equivalent) can be downloaded from your Volta account. You are notified by email and WhatsApp as soon as it is available.

Delays and bank fees

Once your funds are received, payments are usually sent within 48 hours, and as a rule within 72 business hours. Intermediary or beneficiary banks may deduct fees from the amount transferred, unless you request the OUR option before execution.
